Customised labelling solutions for small batch labelling
At LSS we are specialists in labelling solutions for the pharmaceutical industry and we design automatic labelling machines for any kind of pens, auto-injectors, cartridges or devices and have done so for many years.
We build labelling solutions for many types and shapes of pens and auto-injectors – both round, conical and triangular. The labelling machines can handle anything from pens and auto-injectors to cartridges and devices and they can be delivered in both off-line and in-line solutions with a capacity of up to 200 products per minute.

If you choose LSS to build your pen, auto-injector, cartridge or device labelling machine you don’t have to compromise and choose between a completely standardised and rigid machine and an expensive and fully customised labelling solution with a long delivery time.
Our labelling machines are customised to your specific needs and requirements but built from standardised modules that can handle anything from pens and auto-injectors to cartridges and devices. Modules and concepts that have already been thoroughly tested in other labelling solutions and have stood the test of time.
This way we can build you a customised labelling solution with a faster time to market without the need for compromises or the risk of building a completely new solution from scratch.
Highly precise labelling of every pen, auto-injector, cartridge and device
We know that correct and precise labelling is of the utmost importance when labelling pen, auto-injectors, cartridges and devices. That’s why we integrate a series of sensors and vision systems that inspect every label and every product before and after application.
Capacity up to 200 p/min.
Trays with pens, auto-injectors, cartridges or devices are loaded into the in-feed tray module. Pens, auto-injectors, cartridges or devices are then picked from the trays and placed by a SCARA robot onto the infeed conveyor of the machine.
The pens, auto-injectors, cartridges or devices are labelled under rotation between pressure rollers and drive roller or by an intelligent wrap around module depending on the application. A thermal transfer printer or a laser prints the label with a 2D code and other variable information.
After labelling, products are picked and placed back into trays which are then placed into the outfeed tray module.
During the process, a vision system inspects the label for correct print, correct orientation and label presence on the final product. Non-approved products will not be released but are rejected to the relevant reject bin.
Capacity up 100 p/min
The pens, auto-injectors, cartridges or devices are placed with a “pick and place” unit from trays directly into the takt conveyor.
The product is labelled during rotation between pressure rollers and drive rollers.
Marking of the labels can be done by a thermal transfer printer or laser.
During the labelling process, a vision system inspects the label for readability, correct orientation and label presence. Non approved labels and products are rejected.
At the outfeed, the products are picked by the “pick and place” unit for further processing downstream.
We build your new pen, auto-injector, cartridge or device labelling machine in close co-operation with you and your operators. We go through a well-proven process that ensures you end up with the labelling solutions that you need.
The first step is the early design phase where we layout and sketch the solution. From your user requirement specification (URS) we pick the right modules for the task in cooperation with you and we create a visual representation of how the pen, auto-injector, cartridge or device labelling machine will end up.
When we have agreed on the final design we order the necessary parts for your labelling machine and assemble the standardised modules into a customised solution that meets your needs and requirements.
The final step is the factory assessment test (FAT) where you can try out the final labelling machine and test for yourself if it lives up to all your expectations. It is also in this step we find out if we have to make any final changes.
When it’s time we can aid you through the entire installation process of your new labelling machine and support you through the site acceptance test (SAT) as well. Just like we can provide you with all the validation documents you need too.
In other words, we are here to help you through the entire process. From design and assembly to installation and documentation.
The use of standardised modules in our solutions gives you an effective process but still with a lot of room for customisation to create the pen, auto-injector, cartridge or device labelling machine you want and need.
Because our modules already have been tested and stood the test of time in many other solutions we know they will work in your labelling solution as well. You get the benefits of a customised solution without the risks and time-consuming process of starting from scratch. A fast time to market without the compromises of a completely standardised solution.
Every pen, auto-injector, cartridge and device is thoroughly inspected
We know correct and precise labelling is a crucial requirement for any labelling machine in the pharmaceutical industry. That is why all our labelling machines have several sensors and vision cameras that ensures correct and precise labelling every time.
Every label is checked before application and so is the final product. Non-approved labels and products are automatically rejected.

All our labelling machines are equipped with an intuitive control panel (HMI). It features an exact visual representation of the machines which means what the operator sees on the screen is also what the operator sees when he or she looks at the labelling machine.
In addition to the intuitive controls, the operator is also guided through every step he or she needs to take, whether for line clearance, format change, or any other interaction with the labelling machine.
At LSS we have many years of experience from specialising and delivering labelling solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
We speak the same language as you and already know many of the challenges and requirements you face – and we know how our labelling machines can live up to them.
This know-how combined with our customised solutions built from standardised modules ensures you a more effective process and faster time to market – without too many compromises.
Whenever we build you a pen, auto-injector, cartridge or device labelling machine or any other labelling machine we always offer you the option to add on a service agreement. With a service agreement, one of our specialised service technicians will come to inspect and maintain your labelling machine at an interval of your choice.
